About Lisa:

Lisa Bell is a Missouri Licensed Psychologist with a private practice in Washington, Missouri.

Lisa is the founder of Buddies Not Bullies.  She currently holds the positions of Executive Director and Educational Development Director for the agency.  She also provides School Based Mental Health services for Buddies Not Bullies.  Lisa received her Master’s (MA) degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri – Columbia.  She has been licensed as a Psychologist since 1994.

Lisa has been honored to assist hundreds of children and their parents through her work as a psychologist in Washington, whether it be through therapy, evaluation, or expert testimony. Lisa’s passion for emotionally healthy children and families has led her to develop a number of programs over the years to strengthen the lives of the members of her community. In 2005, Portals, was incorporated as a not for profit.  The name was later changed to Buddies Not Bullies in order to better reflect the evolving mission and flagship programs of the agency.  One of the earliest programs of Buddies Not Bullies, known as “Parenting Portals” was developed ten years ago in response to a growing need to provide parent education to reduce the incidence of child abuse and neglect. Lisa still teaches this eight week program through her private practice. She also provides psychotherapy for children and their families who may not have insurance on a case by case basis.

The primary program of Buddies Not Bullies, “All In”™, was developed in response to the growing number of children Lisa was seeing in her practice who were struggling with mistreatment in the school environment. She decided to tackle the problem with prevention services because she was witnessing the devastating effects that mistreatment was having on the children in her community. She felt that she had a responsibility to educate children, parents, and teachers about these effects as well as to provide them with the skills they would need to successfully navigate the compexities of relationships. The “All In”™ program has been taught to hundreds of children, parents and educators since the founding of Buddies Not Bullies in 2005, and continues to be a “work in progress” for Lisa, whose vision is to create a community of acceptance and inclusion.
