“Buddies not Bullies is an organization
which needs no explanation…”

I live in Marthasville. MO with my wonderful husband Terry Hinrichs.

Previously, I worked for the Missouri Department of Social Services/ Children’s Division in various capacities within the Division for 35 years.  My focus was on legal interpretation of Missouri Statutes, Federal Law and performing duties within those parameters regarding child abuse and neglect.  Duties also included management of employees and responsibility for numerous counties and eventually Judicial Circuits.

During my entire career, I worked extensively with families and children at Children’s Division.  This afforded me an opportunity to experience the realm that the children deal with when considering the circumstances they live in, the experiences they have when interacting at school and within the communities they live in, and the numerous challenges they face in all aspects of their lives.  Anyone can experience “bullying”, however, these children from low income, abusive situations, or overall deprivation were ideal candidates for “bullying” which often increased the probability that they would act out or quit school.  I became committed to being involved to assist these children.

It has been gratifying to find a professional and board members who are willing to address the issues affecting so many children.  The subject of bullying is often difficult to build support with others in addressing and resolving the issues.

I would most like to promote Buddies Not Bullies (the mission and organization) to obtain widespread recognition among the public, professional organizations, religious institutions and businesses that could assist in support in areas monetarily, promotionally, and through volunteerism.

Other ways I spend my time includes the following:  I am a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution where there are extensive efforts to support veterans, their children, literacy, and much, much more.  I am a trained Hospice Volunteer.  I am involved with Turning Point (a domestic violence shelter in Warren County),  a member of the VFW Auxiliary, and a member of Beta Sigma Phi.  I am involved in several aspects of my church—Immanuel Lutheran in Washington, Missouri.
